A smaller body of work functions in many ways as the “subconscious”of the red, damaged slides. Pale, greyish-yellow images recreate the view from within a car on Route 40 and 211, headed toward Israel’s southern border with Egypt and to Holot, a detention center for African refugees. For a year and a half, an artist friend and I made this trip to offer the refugees video and photography lessons.
